Crossing DC Wins 2021 WBC Craftsmanship Award for Ornamental Metal
Synergi’s ornamental metal work at Crossing DC has been recognized by the Washington Building Congress as a winner of the 2021 WBC Craftsmanship Awards.
Located in Washington D.C.’s Navy Yard, Crossing is an extremely complex project requiring expert coordination, creativity, and craftsmanship to meet the highest quality standards set by Clark Construction. Our team members – Fatima Campbell, Sean Doll, Shawn Dwyer – were recognized by WBC for providing a high level of quality and coordinating with other trades to ensure timely installation of our work.
In a luxury building like Crossing, details matter. Synergi’s scope of work included all ornamental metals spread throughout four floors of amenity space, along with glass railings that wrap the gardens on the building’s garden, terrace, and rooftop. Given such an extensive scope, we were challenged to design, fabricate, and install a wide variety of finishes, shapes, and sizes of pieces. Features like the surround of an elevator or a fireplace were elevated with materials like Corten steel, brass, and perforated metal to achieve the warm, luxury feel intended by Handel Architects. The features in the lobby exhibit a warm feeling from the extensive use of oxidized brass for the portals between rooms, wall paneling and other features.
Crossing offers virtual and in-person tours and is now leasing.
