Synergi’s Top 5 Projects of 2018
Successfully completing a variety of complex projects across the country kept Synergi busy in 2018. We partnered with premier architects, general contractors, developers and owners to help turn visions into reality. By using our processes, from pre-construction services and fabrication through installation, our clients received cost optimizing solutions and exacting craftsmanship. Below we feature our top 5 projects of 2018.
On the corner of 20th and L Streets in downtown Washington, DC is Alexander Court. This extensive redesign project reconfigured two buildings into one to create a trophy-class office building. The centerpiece of the building is a vast 2-story lobby with a 12-story atrium and has over 600 linear feet of Synergi’s glass railings. For this project, we also provided an ornamental metals package including stainless steel panels and column covers. It was a pleasure working with Rockrose Development Corp. and Spitzer Enterprises, James G. Davis Construction, Fox Architects and Pelli Clark Pelli Architects on this project.
The Beverly Center, in West Los Angeles, California, needed a complete overhaul. The goal of this shopping mall remodel was to create the feel of luxury and open space. Creating that open space feel was achieved by adding skylights that allow natural light to enter the space. This light filters to the lowest level of the mall, helped by a sequence of curved voids surrounded by glass railing. Adding value early in this project with our design-assist solution, Synergi met the design vision while keeping costs under control. This project includes 2300 linear feet of Synergi Crystal, a shoe-based guardrail system. Our partners on this project comprised a joint venture between Swinerton Builders and Jacobsen Construction, owner, Taubman Properties, architect, Neumann Smith & design architect, Fuksas.
An urban infill project in the Shaw Historic District in Washington, DC involved renovating eight historic buildings. Columbia Place is a 12-story mixed-use development that includes a 214 multi-family apartment complex and a 504-room dual-brand hotel. Synergi provided an ornamental metals package and 3,700 linear feet of exterior multi-family ThinkRail glass railings for the 4-star hotel and class A apartment complex. We enjoyed working with Capstone Development, Quadrangle Development Corp., Hensel Phelps Construction, Cooper Carry and TVS Design to complete this project.
A great example of Synergi’s design-build solution is our work at T-Mobile Signature Store in San Francisco, California. By collaborating with stakeholders early in the project, we could integrate our proprietary value engineering services, keeping visions aligned and implementing cost optimizing results. We designed, built and installed the custom feature stair. Integrated LED lighting within the stringers and handrails bring the stairs to life. Another unique feature of this project is the curved, tinted laminated glass with radius steel shoe, support system. Synergi had the pleasure of collaborating and working with Retail Construction Services and Nelson on this project.
The Shops at Riverside needed modernization. Improvements to this 40-year-old shopping mall in Hackensack, New Jersey took place in different phases. Updates included a 248,000 square feet addition, renovations and a new concourse. Our involvement in phase two of the project included a design-build stair and glass railing. A masterpiece that floats in the space, the monumental stair has a unique waterfall feature at the landing. Engaging early in the project, allowed us to help design the stair to be both beautiful and functional, allowing unimpeded views of mall tenant’s shop fronts and signage. Another one of our contributions to the project is 1510 linear feet of tempered, laminated Synergi Crystal Glass Railing System. The base of the railing system is wrapped in bronze cladding and matches the round building column trims fabricated and installed by Synergi. Partnership on this project included working with JP2 Architects and owners, Simon Property Group.
